One of the three teams from BBL B group – Achilles, presented the first surprise in the tournament for The BBL Cup, which started today in Hall "Ivan Simeonov" in Pazardjik. The team suspended the competitor in BBL A group Academician Plovdiv A with 91:71, mainly after a stronger third part and fewer mistakes, and in the round of 16 he will play with Olympia Yambol.

The match started extremely contested, as after a series of leadership exchanges, after ten minutes of play the capital team was leading with 22:19. The pace was maintained in the second period as well, as for the entire first half neither team was able to pull away with more than 6 points and at the break the symbolic guests were ahead again, this time at 43:38.

After the break, the team of Georgi Mladenov took the initiative and after a very strong third part, before the decisive ten minutes, broke away with 67:48. Until the end, the team maintained a double-digit lead and won convincingly.

Georgi Kuchkov finished with 29 points and 9 assists for the winners, but with 5 fouls. Daniel Todorov tallied 24 points and 13 rebounds, Pavel Todorov has 18 points, Jordan Kirilov recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Tomislav Minkov was above all for Academician with 20 points. They did a double-double Krastomir Mihov (17 points and 10 rebounds) and Mahmut Davidov (15 points and 10 rebounds), and has 13 points Ioannis Kikrilis.

BULGARIAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE (BBL) is a national basketball league established in 2016. FROM 2020. In recent years, the League has become one of the largest team championships in Bulgaria.

BBL A group, and from 2022 and B group are included as official state championships to the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Thus, basketball in Bulgaria acquired a complete pyramidal structure. The league is structured and takes place on a regional tournament basis in four regions - West, South, East and Center.
