Sportsman 1959 qualified for the semifinals in the West region of BBL A group. The team achieved a dramatic victory in the second match against Levski Sofia 2022 with 84:82 in the capital hall "Triad", thus closing the series 2-0. The winners trailed almost the entire game, including by double digits, but made a comeback at the end.

In the semi-finals Sportsman 1959 will have as opponent the winner of the pair The Fab Five – Balkan A, who will play a decisive third match.

After exchanging baskets at the start, the capital team took a slight advantage and after ten minutes of play led with 27:20. The productivity dropped drastically in the second period, and although the lead of the hosts briefly reached 16 points, at the break the difference was almost unchanged - 43:35.

The two teams continued to play with ebb and flow after the break. Levski Sofia 2022 again pulled with a double-digit lead, but on his turn Sportsman got as close as 3 and before the decisive quarter the team trailed 58:65. The pressure of the guests increased and four minutes before the end they achieved a complete turnaround - 74:73. Exchanges of leadership followed, and 25 seconds before the end, the capital team got the right to make a last attack with a point advance for its rival. This time, however, the hosts missed, and a free kick sealed the victory for the team of Emil Goranov.

Both teams were short-handed in this game. Boris Matrakov was top scorer for the winners with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Ivan Tsenov realized 19 points, with 15 is Gerasim Nikolov, and they added 11 each Simeon Tsenov (11 tackles) and Jimmy Hunt (7 assists).
