A total of 100 teams from all over Bulgaria applied for participation in the championships Bulgarian Basketball League in the 2023/2024 season. The deadline for this passed at the beginning of the week.

According to the planned development strategy of the BBL championships, the maximum number of participating teams in one division is 12. For this reason, the teams that had a representative in them this year also have priority, and new teams are on the waiting list.

Traditionally, the greatest interest is again in the West region, where, in addition to A and B, there is also a B group, and a total of 47 teams have applied in the three divisions. The South region follows with 23 teams, the East with 19, and the Center with 11. There is a separate registration for BBL Women.

By June 20, every club that has applied for the new BBL season must also pay a deposit guaranteeing participation.

Heber B is the champion in the South region of BBL B group. The team took the title after achieving two wins against Olympia Yambol.

Heber B won the first match as a guest with 91:72, and then in the second leg at home in Hall "Ivan Simeonov" beat his opponent 87:59.

Only the opening minutes of the match in Pazardzhik were disputed, after which the hosts built up a solid margin and did not lose their lead until the end.

The entire starting five of Heber B finished with a double-digit point asset, being the top scorer Julius Arabadzhiyski with 23 points and 7 rebounds, a Metodi Iliev tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds.

For Olympia Yambol Martin Chavdarov finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds, Todor Kirilov tallied 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

The bronze medals were won by the composition of Kings of the Valley, who in the minor final also recorded two wins against Rogosh – with 93:61 in the first match in Yambol and with 83:63 in the second in Pazardzhik.

However, success in the second leg did not come as easily as Kings of the Valley trailed for almost the entire first half, catching double-digit deficits in it as well.

Ivan Gospodinov recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners, 19 has Stanimir Nedev.

They scored 16 points for the opponent Hristo Kirov (9 assists) and Preslav Petkov (8 fights).

BULGARIAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE (BBL) is a national basketball league established in 2016. FROM 2020. In recent years, the League has become one of the largest team championships in Bulgaria.

BBL A group, and from 2022 and B group are included as official state championships to the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Thus, basketball in Bulgaria acquired a complete pyramidal structure. The league is structured and takes place on a regional tournament basis in four regions - West, South, East and Center.
