University of Varna with a dramatic win over Vikudha Black Sea.

In an extremely interesting match from the regular season of the BBL A group, region east, the team of University of Varna prevailed over Black Sea Vikudha with 83:81, after he managed to catch up with a nearly 20-point difference.

After a weak first half, Petko Delev's alumni came back into the game and wrested victory from the team of Vikudha Black Sea in the last seconds.

100 teams have applied for the new season in the BBL championships

A total of 100 teams from all over Bulgaria applied for participation in the championships Bulgarian Basketball League in the 2023/2024 season. The deadline for this passed at the beginning of the week.

According to the planned development strategy of the BBL championships, the maximum number of participating teams in one division is 12. For this reason, the teams that had a representative in them this year also have priority, and new teams are on the waiting list.

Traditionally, the greatest interest is again in the West region, where, in addition to A and B, there is also a B group, and a total of 47 teams have applied in the three divisions. The South region follows with 23 teams, the East with 19, and the Center with 11. There is a separate registration for BBL Women.

By June 20, every club that has applied for the new BBL season must also pay a deposit guaranteeing participation.

IU won the derby with Black Sea Ticha A with 90:77 in an extremely interesting match in their hall in Varna.

The two teams played a very contested first half, in which they repeatedly exchanged the lead. After ten minutes of play, the score was equal - 23:23, and at the break the "sailors" took a slight advantage at 45:43. A strong streak of IU shortly after the break resulted in another twist and a 13-point gap in his favour. Black Sea only managed to come within 2 in the remaining time, but the opponent did not lose its lead, and in the end won by a margin.

Peter Hristov topped everyone for the winners with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Alexander Podskokiev scored 19 points and 8 assists, and played very hard Emil Mihalev with 17 points and 16 rebounds.

For the opponent Harun Dariush realize 20 points, Mert Adem is with 16, 11 has Victor Nalbantov, and 10 added Dragomir Mitev.

BULGARIAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE (BBL) is a national basketball league established in 2016. FROM 2020. In recent years, the League has become one of the largest team championships in Bulgaria.

BBL A group, and from 2022 and B group are included as official state championships to the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Thus, basketball in Bulgaria acquired a complete pyramidal structure. The league is structured and takes place on a regional tournament basis in four regions - West, South, East and Center.

IU, Showtime and Black Sea Ticha A won today's matches from the East region of BBL A group. The matches took place today in Dechko Stefanov Hall in Targovishte.

Showtime recorded a sixth consecutive victory after prevailing over v Unstoppable 92:82 in the first game of the day. The Varna team led by 22:15 after ten minutes of play, but even though it pulled ahead with a double-digit difference in the second period, at the break the rival reduced the score to 36:41. The team from Dobrich achieved a complete turnaround at the end of the third quarter, but after a strong final ten minutes Showtime won. The winners committed 12 errors to 22 and had more penalty kicks too - 16/19 to just one for their opponents.

Vasil Kyosev was top scorer for the winners with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Krasimir Dimitrov tallied 19 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. For Unstoppable Peter Demirev recorded 28 points and 10 rebounds, Dobromir Sheringov has 26 points.

IU won the round derby by beating Shumen A with 65:56 after overtime. The team from Varna led with 15:12 after ten minutes of play, but at the end of the half the basketball players of Zvonko Papak and Yanko Yankov they turned in 27:24. However, they did not hold onto their lead for long after the break and IU came forward again, and before the last part the score was 43:37 in his favor. The drama continued until the end, as 17 seconds before the end the score was equal - 52:52. Petko Delev's team missed the opportunity to secure the victory already in regular time, dropping out of the three, but won the added five minutes with 13:4, and with it the match. Both teams made a lot of mistakes, with the winners committing 28 errors, but compensated with better play in the basket.

Emil Mihalev recorded 18 points and 9 rebounds for IU. Tsvetan Savov tallied 16 points and 15 rebounds, Alexander Podskokiev has 14 points. For Shumen A Rosen Ivanov has 13 points and 15 rebounds, Okan Hasanov added 13 points.

In the last match Black Sea Ticha A inflicted seventh loss on Lightning, beating him 78:68. The team from Targovishte accumulated an advance of 15 points already at the end of the first quarter, but at the break it was only 1 - 35:34. The Mariners' upswing continued and after a strong second half they won the game.

Lubomir Keremedchiev realized 22 points for the success, with 18 is Mert Adem, and there are 14 and 16 fights Christian Popov. For Lightning Alexander Yanchev scored 29 points with 9 rebounds, Sasho Georgiev has 21 points and 10 rebounds, a Nikolay Nenov added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
