There will be 77 teams in the BBL championships in the new season

There will be a total of 77 teams in the championships of the Bulgarian Men's Basketball League for the 2023/2024 season. This became clear after the expiration of the deadline for confirmation of participation.

Initially, 100 teams submitted their applications, and by June 20 they had to pay their deposits to secure their places in the championships, but 23 of them did not do so in the allotted time.

Most of last year's participants in the championships will have teams this season as well, the absence of Pravets and Dunav Ruse, as well as the inclusion of some new teams, makes an impression.

Here are the teams for the new season:

Last day to confirm participation for the new BBL season

The deadline for clubs to confirm their participation in the BBL championships for the new season is just hours away.

A total of 100 teams have applied for the various BBL Men's A, B and B regions, but in order for each of them to secure their place, they must also pay their deposits, which they can do up to and including today.

So far, nearly half of the teams have guaranteed their participation, but traditionally most of them do so at the last minute.

In the new season, there will be a women's BBL championship again, and the teams in it will become clear yet.

Individual awards at the BBL A group finals

The basketball player of Miner 2015 Georgi Burzakov was voted MVP of the Volkswagen National Finals BBL 22/23. He finished with an odds of 26 at the tournament in Haskovo and helped the team win the title that season.

The captain of the champion Milen Dudev, who led the team in the decisive stage of the race, also received an individual prize. The guard took the award for most assists with an average of 6.3 per game.

The basketball player of the bronze medalist became the best scorer Heber Berk Mehmed, who averaged 26 points per game.

His teammate Hristo Buckkov and took the prize for the most fights with average figures per fight of 14.7.

The finalist Haskovo also had a representative among the awardees, as the team's basketball player Ivaylo Tonev was honored for the most steals - an average of 3 per game.

The individual prizes were awarded to the players by the mayor of Haskovo, Stanislav Dechev.

Miner 2015 is the new champion in BBL A group

Miner 2015 won the title in BBL A group! After taking the Cup, led by Milen Dudev team also triumphed with gold in the championship, after defeating the host in the decisive match of the Volkswagen National Finals BBL 22/23 Haskovo with 88:78 in the full Friendship Hall.

Thus, for another year a team from the West region won the first place, as the last time, 12 months ago, it did so CSKA A.

The team from Pernik took a slight advantage at the beginning of the meeting, and although there was a short turn, after ten minutes of play it was ahead with 27:24. Miner 2015 didn't take a single free throw in the entire first half, but made 10 3-pointers and also played harder in the basket, leading 50-40 at the break after 21 points on Georgi Burzakov.

Ivaylo Tonev scored the first basket of the second half, but 10 unanswered points followed for the opponent, who broke away with 60:43, and before the decisive quarter was ahead with 72:50. The basketball players of Yanko Zhelev they still won the last part convincingly, but without that changing the final outcome.

Above all, it was for the winners Georgi Burzakov with 30 points (8 triples). Christian Stavrev scored 12 points, added 10 each Hristo Gatev (8 tackles) and Nikolai Ivanov.

For Haskovo Ivaylo Tonev finished with 26 points, Dinko Hristov scored 21, and with 11 is Tihomir Zhelev.

BULGARIAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE (BBL) is a national basketball league established in 2016. FROM 2020. In recent years, the League has become one of the largest team championships in Bulgaria.

BBL A group, and from 2022 and B group are included as official state championships to the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Thus, basketball in Bulgaria acquired a complete pyramidal structure. The league is structured and takes place on a regional tournament basis in four regions - West, South, East and Center.

Bronze for Heber in BBL A group

Heber won the bronze medals in BBL A group in this season. In the small final in Friendship Hall in Haskovo, the team won The Fab Five by 113:90 after leading throughout.

They will later face each other in a title dispute Haskovo and Miner 2015.

Heber started the match very strongly and already in the opening minutes gained a lead, and after the first part was ahead with 29:23. The productivity increased even more in the second period, and at the break the team led with 60:49.

After the break, the game was relatively even, but still before the decisive quarter The Fab Five reduced by 72:78. However, the team from Pazardzhik did not allow the intrigue in the match to return and after a very strong last part won convincingly.

It was the most successful for the winners Berk Mehmed with 27 points and 7 rebounds, and 21 points added Nikolai Ninov, with 19 is Georgi Adirkov. They scored 15 points each Hristo Buckkov (15 tackles) and Mikhail Kombakov, and 13 points and 8 rebounds recorded Julius Arabadzhiyski.

For the capital team Kamen Atanasov scored 22 points, with 20 and 9 rebounds Martin Gorunov, and he has 14 and 7 assists Denis Petkov.
