Plovdiv Mambas overcome Academician Plovdiv A with 80:74 in an extremely dramatic game at the start of the quarterfinal playoffs in the South region, which took place in strength hall.
The basketball players of Jordan Ivanov they had a slight advantage in the first part, but at the end of it the rival turned around for 18:17. The advantage of Plovdiv Mambas reached 8 in the second period, and at the break the team was ahead with 37:34.
The drama continued throughout the second half, in which the two teams exchanged the lead several more times, but without the difference exceeding 5 points.
Less than two minutes before the end, the score was tied again - 71:71. Shortly afterwards, however, with a point advance for the token visitors, play was temporarily suspended after tensions arose between players and members of the audience, after which Georgi Indjov was disqualified and his coach received a technical foul. Four accurate penalty kicks on Haidar Barakat brought out Plovdiv Mambas ahead with 77:72, as the team kept its lead until the end.
Exactly Barakat topped everyone for the winners with 34 points (14/16 from the foul line) and 15 rebounds, and also had a double-double Dilyan Barbov – 16 points and 10 rebounds.
For Academician A Krastomir Mihov tallied 33 points and 13 rebounds, Ioannis Kikrilis recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Akademik Plovdiv vs Plovdiv Mambas – a basketball match from the BBL A Group South playoffs.
BULGARIAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE (BBL) is a national basketball league established in 2016. FROM 2020. In recent years, the League has become one of the largest team championships in Bulgaria.
BBL A group, and from 2022 and B group are included as official state championships to the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Thus, basketball in Bulgaria acquired a complete pyramidal structure. The league is structured and takes place on a regional tournament basis in four regions - West, South, East and Center.
